Police suspect one of the robbers, Seyyed Hadi Mirlohi, 20, initially met the victim, Steven Kile, 29, through an Internet social networking site, and they later met in person before the robbery.

Officials say that's what led them to the suspect's identity, which then led them to the other three suspected robbers, Richard Lance McGee, 21, and two boys, ages 14 and 16.

Police declined to reveal the name of the Internet site or the nature of Kile's interaction with Mirlohi.

Police arrested them on suspicion of robbery.

While detectives chased leads in the case Tuesday, police began receiving an outpouring of support from people around Southern California and as far away as Pennsylvania who heard about the attack.

A Pittsburgh man who operates a company that produces computer equipment used by the disabled offered to replace Kile's equipment, which police initially believed was stolen.
