Another home, another loss

..."That's a part of me," she said of her daughter.

"I had to get mine." She said that they'll find another house "starting today, right now, because we're homeless.

"We overcame everything in a year and look what happened," she said.

She rubbed her eyes and leaned on the railing of her neighbor's steps.

"It's a test," she said.

At a glance The local chapter of the American Red Cross helped 18 people displaced by the fire with funding for food, clothing and shelter, said Red Cross spokeswoman Victoria Connor.

Eleven of the residents displaced were children.

She said Rabbittransit provided transportation, and victims of the fire will be given lodging in area hotels.

She said the Red Cross will provide mental health counseling to anyone who needs it.

The Red Cross coffers were hit hard this year, but Connor said the community has responded to the organization's request for funds with contributions.
