P.J. Abdul Kalam took some time out of his busy schedule to visit Athens famous Acropolis this afternoon.Kalam spent about 40 minutes in the ancient temple complex, using the time there to interact with Greek children, tourist guides and some Indians, besides having a look at some of the historic objects of art.During his interaction with children, he took them aside and asked them to recite a poem that he had written in the recent past. The lines of the poem went as follows:"Train, Train TrainTrain lead to thoughtsThoughts lead to action" He also spoke with some tourist guides, and one of them said: "I love your country. It is the land of Mahatma Gandhi. I would love to visit it."Kalam shook hands with her, and said that the civilisations of Greece and India were both affected and invaded by other countries and dynasties. If the Greeks were attacked and invaded by the Romans, India too had its fare share of invasions from Central Asia.When asked how did it feel to come to the Acropolis, Kalam said: It is inspirational to come these h... A legacy built on spirit, faith... “I always knew how beautiful she was. I’m just realizing how many other people did.”Teachers and classmates at Clackamas High School, where Alexis was a student, recalled how Alexis would put her face close to theirs and just smile, spreading her cheer for others to share in.She had a network of friends, a community that loved her, one of which was St. Rose of Lima parish, which offered a Mass for special needs children on the second Sunday of each month organized in part by Dorothy Coughlin, the director of the Archdiocese of Portland’s Office for People with Disabilities. And there was Alexis’ extended family at Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie, where she made her first Communion and Confession.The Luchinis also participated in an annual summer retreat, organized by Coughlin, for families with special needs children.
