Train kills wheelchair-bound woman

..."As she was crossing, her wheelchair for some reason has fallen over and she has been thrown out," Ms Weatherall said.

Ms Weatherall said the woman's carer had tried to drag her out of the train's path.

"The woman was in a motorised wheelchair with her 52-year-old carer, who tried to lift her but could not get her off the line," Ms Weatherall said.

The carer then had to jump out of the way for her own safety.

Ms Weatherall said it was unclear whether bells and flashing lights had given warning of the oncoming train when the woman tried to cross the tracks.

The train station was closed for several hours.

The Public Transport Authority (PTA), the Office of Rail Safety and the police are inquiring into the incident.

The PTA's David Hynes said the train driver was receiving counselling.

"He's been taken off the roster and he seemed okay at this stage, but it's obviously a terrible experience for him," Mr Hynes said.

"We also offer (counselling) to passengers or any of other staff who were there." Supporting a victim

... But his emotions were clear.

The 29-year-old Redlands man sat in his motorized wheelchair and used sign language to thank the community for its support in the aftermath of Sunday's home- invasion robbery.

Four suspects were arrested Tuesday in connection with the crime.

His brother, Kris, translated for him at the conference that was also attended by their parents and sister.

On Sunday night, there was a knock on Kile's door of his New York Street apartment.

One of the suspects asked for a cup sugar.

The other suspects, who wore ski masks, rushed into the apartment.

One of them had a knife.

Detectives say they beat Kile, ransacked his apartment and stole electronics and his wallet.

Kile is said to have met on of the suspects, Seyyed Hadi Mirlohi, 20, of Riverside, on the Internet and later in person.

Police declined to say what Web site on which the two met.

When police arrived they had difficulty communicating with Steven initially because he could not speak, but he used notes to tell them what happened.

Redlands police, assisted by Riverside police, arrested Seyyed Hadi Mirlohi, 20 and Richard AdvertisementLance McGee, 21 and two male juveniles, ages 14 and 16, on Tuesday.

The four Riverside residents are charged with home-invasion robbery.

Kile's sister, Erica Guilliam, recalled seeing her brother in the hospital after the attack.
